چکیده

The apparent spectral evolution observed in the steep decay phase of many GRB early afterglows raises a great concern of the high-latitude “curvature effect” interpretation of this phase. However, previous curvature effect models only invoked a simple power law spectrum upon the cessation of the prompt internal emission. We investigate a model that invokes the “curvature effect” of a more general non-power-law spectrum and test this model with the Swift/XRT data of some GRBs. We show that one can reproduce both the observed lightcurve and the apparent spectral evolution of several GRBs using a model invoking a power-law spectrum with an exponential cut off. GRB 050814 is presented as an example. Subject headings: gamma-rays: bursts

The puzzling case of GRB 990123 : multiwavelength afterglow study ⋆

We report on the BeppoSAX data analysis of the afterglow of Gamma–Ray Burst (GRB) 990123, one of the brightest GRBs detected by BeppoSAX. Mainly due to its exceptional brightness, this is the only source for which the Wide Field Cameras have allowed an early detection of the X–ray afterglow between ∼20 and 60 min after the GRB trigger. Besides, again for the first time, high-energy emission fro...

Integral and Xmm-newton Observations of the Weak Grb 030227

We present INTEGRAL and XMM-Newton observations of the prompt γ-ray emission and the X–ray afterglow of GRB 030227 , the first GRB for which the quick localization obtained with the INTEGRAL Burst Alert System (IBAS) has led to the discovery of X–ray and optical afterglows. GRB 030227 had a duration of about 20 s and a peak flux of ∼1.1 photons cm −2 s −1 in the 20-200 keV energy range. The tim...

Observations of Grb 990123 by the Compt on Gamma Ray Observ at Ory

GRB 990123 was the Ðrst burst from which simultaneous optical, X-ray, and gamma-ray emission was detected ; its afterglow has been followed by an extensive set of radio, optical, and X-ray observations. We have studied the gamma-ray burst itself as observed by the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory detectors. We Ðnd that gamma-ray Ñuxes are not correlated with the simultaneous optical observations a...

Decay phases of Swift X-ray afterglows and the forward-shock model.

The X-ray flux of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows monitored by the Swift satellite from January 2005 to July 2006 displays one to four phases of flux power-law decay. In chronological order, they are: the GRB tail, the 'hump', the standard decay and the post-jet-break decay. More than half of the GRB tails can be identified with the large-angle emission produced during the burst (but arriv...

GRB 051210: Swift detection of a short gamma ray burst

Aims. The short/hard GRB 051210 was detected and located by the Swift-BAT instrument and rapidly pointed towards by the narrow field instruments. The XRT was able to observe a bright, rapidly fading X-ray emission. We present the analysis of the prompt and afterglow emission of this event. Methods. The BAT spectrum is a power-law with photon index 1.0 ± 0.3. The X-ray light curve decays with sl...
